On 29 July 2025, Scott’s assisted utilities teams on a steep, constrained site in Darwen. The brief was to upgrade critical pump infrastructure so that water can be rerouted to Blackburn if demand spikes or supply is interrupted.

Scott’s deployed an 8 tonne Komatsu excavator with specialist buckets and a trusted operator from our core team. The combination allowed precise digging around existing assets, safe handling of pipework and tidy reinstatement, keeping the programme on track despite the terrain.

Operator Mick, a long standing member of Scott’s, was requested by name for the works. His site knowledge and calm decision making helped coordinate plant movements with the civils crew and reduce stoppages through the shift.
